Spanish 3 & 4 students attended the UNK World Languages and Cultures Day today! The participated in sessions about study abroad, the importance of studying languages, and Japanese, French, and German lessons. Congratulations to Olivia Cure and Jaquelin Velasquez for being recognized as Outstanding Spanish Students, Quinn Hellerich for winning 2nd place in the poster competition, and Olivia Cure and Ava Rabbe for taking second in the Kahoot! game.

Shelton Believer & Achiever Recipients for 2026
To be recognized as a NSAA Believer & Achiever, students must first meet established criteria set by the Nebraska Activities Association. Individuals must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher. The grade point average is calculated through the second semester of the nominee's junior year.
Additionally, a requirement of this award is that the student must participate in an NSAA-sanctioned activity. Other components on the application include Community Involvement through volunteerism in community organizations, youth groups and programs during the applicant's high school career.
Lastly, students are required to complete a Citizenship Essay. This year's essay prompt was the following: "How would you personally define leadership, and in what ways has your participation in NSAA sports and/or activities equipped you to take on leadership roles in the next phases of your life?"
Once all criteria is met, students are given the opportunity to apply for this award, and schools are allowed to nominate up to four individuals per school. This year's recipients for Shelton are Owen Johnson, Olivia Cure, Sonja Warner, & Amaya Morgan.
