January Project Assembly: The theme this month was recognition of those who have overcome obstacles or stumbling blocks. Staff members of the month certificates of appreciation were presented to Mr. Josh Hellerich & Mrs. Maritza Bernal by the Student Council. See the nomination comments below. Congratulations to everyone who is making a DIFFERENCE here at Shelton High School!
Student Council Staff of the Month
The January staff of the month are being recognized for their dedication and commitment to helping students.
Our first staff member was nominated because she is super helpful. She always makes it a priority to help out anyone who comes into the office. When you just need to chat she is there. She is also a good person to joke around with. Another student said “she is determined and kind. She is always putting others before herself. She is always looking for the best in people. She makes me feel heard. Talking to her is one of my favorite part of the day!”
Maritza is our first staff member of the month!
Our second staff member was nominated by students who said “ he displays grit and dedication to teaching because of how much effort he puts into his K-12 art classes. He works tirelessly with all ages to make sure that they develop an appreciation of art. He also is the sponsor for Art Honors and manages all of their trips. He also organizes the art show at the end of the year and cooks all of the food for it. Instead of just teaching a couple of high school classes, he teaches the entire elementary, junior high, and high school art classes. He's shown dedication through all 20 years of his teaching career.” And also “He works tirelessly with all ages to ensure that they develop an appreciation for the arts. He encourages students to use problem-solving skills when at an impasse. Without a doubt, Mr. H. deserves this month's award.”
Congratulations to Mr. Hellerich for being a January staff member of the month!
